Ameren Receives Freedom Award

Tom Voss, chairman, president and CEO, Ameren, accepts
on behalf of Ameren, the 2011 Department of Defense
Employer Support Freedom Award. Presenting the award,
Clifford Stanley, Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel
and Readiness, left, and David McGinnis, Acting Assistant
secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, right.
Ameren is proud of its long history of hiring, supporting and honoring military veterans, who are interested in working for one of the largest utilities in the Midwest.

Ameren has also long supported employees who are called for active duty by providing security and support through continued benefits to employed reservists and their families.

The Department of Defense recognized Ameren in Sept. 2011 with the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award - the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government - for its support of employees serving in the Guard and Reserve. Freedom Award recipients distinguish themselves by going to extraordinary lengths to support their military employees. Ameren was one of 15 employers to receive this prestigious award.

In addition, Ameren was named one of the nation's top 100 military-friendly employers by GI Jobs Magazine for the third consecutive year. In 2011, the Missouri Division of Workforce Development awarded Ameren Missouri the Flag of Freedom (16a) as part of the Show-Me Heroes campaign, which showcases Missouri businesses that are willing and eager to hire veterans.
