Maureen A. Borkowski is president and chief executive officer of Ameren Transmission Company (ATX) - a subsidiary dedicated to electric transmission infrastructure investment. In addition to leading the development of new transmission, she is also responsible for the operations, planning and policymaking of Ameren's system of more than 7,400 circuit miles of high-voltage transmission lines in Illinois and Missouri.

Ms. Borkowski has led Ameren's transmission function since 2005 as vice president, Transmission, becoming the first female officer to direct an operational and technical area in the company's history. She has more than 25 years experience in the utility industry, beginning her career in 1981 as an engineer at Union Electric Company, now Ameren Missouri. During her years at the company, her responsibilities included transmission policy, contracts, tariff design and administration; power marketing; retail access policy and implementation; interconnection arrangement; sales and demand forecasting; and demand-side planning. Before re-joining Ameren in 2005, Ms. Borkowski was president of Borkowski Enterprises, Inc., an energy consulting firm.

Ms. Borkowski is a member of the Edison Electric Institute's (EEI) Energy Delivery Public Policy Executive Advisory Committee (EAC), EEI Reliability EAC and EEI Transmission Policy Task Force. She has represented the EEI member companies as the investor-owned utility representative on the North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s Members Representative Committee. She currently serves as chairman of the SERC Reliability Corporation’s Board of Directors - a nonprofit corporation responsible for promoting and improving the reliability, adequacy and critical infrastructure of the bulk power supply systems in all or portions of 16 central and southeastern states.

Ms. Borkowski graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Ind., with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. She has been involved as a volunteer for various charitable organizations and serves as a member of the boards of the Shakespeare Festival - St. Louis and The Magic House. She is a cabinet member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis Women’s Leadership Society. Ms. Borkowski is also a graduate of the Focus St. Louis Leadership program.
