The Heat is On…Tips for Staying Cool and Managing your Summer Electricity Bills
Typically, customers use more electricity during the summer cooling season (June through September) than at other times of the year.
Several factors determine just how much electricity you will use, including the size of your home, the outdoor temperature, the efficiency of your air conditioner and the temperature at which you set your thermostat.
There are ways to reduce the amount of electricity you use—and help keep your electricity bills lower:

Turn the air conditioner’s thermostat up. Each degree you increase the temperature reduces electricity use by 2 to 3 percent.

Regularly change or wash (depending on the type) air conditioner filters.

Use ceiling fans or other types of circulating fans. Circulating air feels cooler.

Keep shades, curtains and blinds closed during the day to reduce solar heating.

Turn off the air conditioner, and open windows on mild days or cool nights.
