May was Electric Safety Month, reminding us that spring is a good time to review a few rules that will keep you and your family safe around electricity.
If you intend to plant a tree, put up a flag pole or do other digging in your yard, remember to first call the MOCS (Missouri One-Call System) at 1 (800) DIG-RITE (1.800.344.7483). Underground electric and other utility lines will be marked for safety’s sake.
If you are painting, cleaning gutters or making repairs on your house, be careful where you carry and place your ladder. Avoid contact with wires running overhead.
When pruning or climbing trees, check to make sure there are no power lines hidden among the limbs. Choose a tree that is distant from power lines.
