Troubleshooting Guide
Pop-up Block Configuration

Installing the Audio Codec

Fix Audio Issues

Pop-up Blocker Configuration

The Ameren Webcast appears in a popup, so Ameren needs to be set as a trusted location for the Webcast to function correctly.

Note: If the workstation is an Ameren computer, rebooting the unit will automatically turn off the built-in Internet Explorer popup blocker for Ameren Webcasts.

If the workstation is outside of the Ameren network, perform the following steps to turn off the internal popup blocker:

1.

Open Internet Explorer.

2.

At the top of IE, click on Tools—Internet Options.

3.

Click on the Security tab.

4.

Single-click on Trusted sites to highlight it. Then click the Sites... button.

5.

In the box underneath Add this Web site... type in the following address:
http://*.corporate-it.net

(The symbol in the above line is an asterisk, usually the shift+8 on the keyboard)

6.

Once the address is typed, click on the Add button.

7.

Towards the bottom of the window, verify the setting Require server verification does not have a checkmark.

8.

Click OK at the bottom, then OK again to return to Internet Explorer.

9.

Proceed to the Ameren website to view the Webcast.

Installing the Audio Codec

To play different types of multimedia files, Media Player needs to have the correct decoder used to play the video/audio. These decoders are referred to as codecs.

1.

Open Internet Explorer.

2.

In the Address line at the top, type in http://www.ameren.com and press Enter.

3.

Once at the website, in the lower-left corner, click on the Webcast: Ameren... link.

4.

A new page will open. Towards the middle, click on Click here for Webcast"

5.

If prompted with a Guestbook page, you will need to register by entering your information and clicking on the Register button.

6.

If your Media Player needs to update a codec, you will be prompted with a screen similar to the following:

7.

When prompted with this dialog, click on the Install button.

8.

After the file is installed, which happens in the background, the Webcast will begin to play.

Fix Audio Issues

If you experience problems such as unable to hear the audio of the Webcast, you may need to disable the UDP setting in Windows Media Player.

1.

Start Windows Media Player by going to Start—Run, type in "wmplayer", and click OK.

2.

At the top of Media Player, click on Tools—Options.

3.

Click on the Network tab.

4.

In the middle, under Streaming protocols, uncheck the UDP protocol.

5.

Click OK at the bottom, and close Media Player.

6.

Begin the Webcast and verify the audio can be heard.
