Maintaining Your Service: Who’s Responsible for Storm Damage Repairs?

Severe storms can damage electric utility distribution systems, but they may also damage components for which homeowners are responsible. Such damage may result in a service outage.

Ameren maintains:

The electric line that carries power to your home; and
|

The electric meter.
|
You are responsible for:

The service bracket or pipe riser, which protects the line as it enters your home;
|
3.
|
The weatherhead, which keeps rain and debris out of the pipe riser;
|
4.
|
The pipe riser, which serves as a guide and protection for the lines entering the meter box; and
|
5.
|
The meter box, which protects the meter connections.
