The St. Louis Business Journal has named Sharon Harvey Davis, director, Diversity, as one of its Influential Minority Business Leaders for 2008. The article appears in the September 12 issue of the Business Journal.
In the article Sharon Harvey Davis explains why diversity is important in a work environment, “UCLA and the University of Wisconsin did a study on productive teams. What they found was teams that are homogeneous perform in the middle, and they never can get past that because at a certain point there are no new ideas being introduced. Diverse teams perform in one of two places. They can either crash and burn because there are so many different types of personalities. Or they are the highest performing team because they have figured out how to incorporate all the differences of viewpoints, thoughts and working styles.”
