Ameren Missouri partnered with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and EarthWays Center for Resource Efficiency in a solar energy education project awarded to 20 Missouri schools that are Ameren Missouri electric customers.
Helping Students Learn About Solar Energy
Award winning schools received:
- Solar energy grants in the amount of $10,000 for each school.
- Funds to install 1-kilowatt photovoltaic solar arrays on school grounds.
- Materials to help students understand solar energy.
- Teacher training on incorporating student lessons on energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Funding for the education program came from Missouri Schools Going Solar (MSGS), as well as a required $2,500 cash match that each school was required to provide. The project was managed by The Energy Center, an office of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Outreach and Assistance Center.
