Maintenance Department
This department at Callaway is responsible for directing activities that support plant operation, maintenance and outages. Responsibilities include work in the areas of mechanical maintenance, instruments and controls, electrical maintenance and maintenance support.

  • Tool Room Technicians

Operations Department
This department at Callaway is responsible for the operation of all equipment associated with power generation, including directing fuel handling operations (for both new and spent fuel), loading the reactor core and all handling/storage of fuel on site.

Personnel with the title of Operating Supervisor or Shift Manager may become licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO). Shift Managers carry on shift management responsibility for safely operating the Callaway Plant and are normally in charge of the Reactor Operators on shift.

Reactor Operators are licensed, and normally report to the Shift Manager or Control Room Operating Supervisor. They are responsible for routine plant operations, and performance of major evolutions at the direction of the Shift Manager.

Operations Technicians and Radwaste Operators are roving operators whose duties include manually and remotely changing equipment operating conditions, placing equipment in service, or securing equipment from service, at the direction of the Reactor Operator. This position provides preparation for reactor operator training. Degreed engineers are encouraged to apply for Operation Technician positions.

Radwaste Operations personnel are involved in the operation of radwaste systems, and the processing and storage of radioactive waste.
