Ameren Environmental Connections / Forest ReLeaf
Ameren has supported a number of programs to promote tree-planting and public education. The Ameren Environmental Connections Program provides grants for selected projects that enhance the environment in communities Ameren serves. In 2006, this program awarded $12,800 in grants to community organizations in the Missouri cities of Mexico, Osage Beach, Rocheport and St. Charles, and the Illinois cities of Bloomington, Godfrey, Mattoon and Ottawa.
Since 2002, AmerenUE has contributed $25,000 annually to Forest ReLeaf of Missouri to help sponsor Project CommuniTree, a pioneer nursery operation that grows trees for planting on public property and on land owned by nonprofit organizations. In 2006, this program provided a record total of 6,026 free trees for 54 community planting projects. Non-profit organizations, community groups and municipalities may apply for trees from Forest ReLeaf on a first-come, first-served basis. In St. Louis, call 314.533.LEAF. Elsewhere, call toll-free 888.4.RELEAF. Or visit the Forest ReLeaf Web site.
