In 2008, Betty suffered a debilitating injury that required three months of rehabilitation. At age 67, she learned to walk again. However, Betty’s amazing recovery was overshadowed by the need to pay her household bills. “I called everywhere, but no one had money available to help us,” she says.
After living without power for several weeks, Betty learned about the Ameren Dollar More program. With help from a Dollar More funded agency, her power was restored and she was able to access other much needed resources. “I believe that if I can buy a bar of candy, I can give a dollar,” says Betty. She intends to contribute one dollar a month to help others in need. Now, Betty truly believes in the power to give—thanks to Dollar More.
