Ameren is pursuing efforts to make the transportation we use not only more efficient but environmentally friendly as well.

Hybrid Bucket Trucks
Ameren uses several hybrid bucket trucks that run on both diesel fuel and electricity stored in lithium batteries. These trucks use 30-50% less diesel fuel than conventional trucks, reducing smog-forming emissions by approximately 50%, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Travel Reductions
We are eliminating over 100 small meter reading type vehicles and the associated vehicle miles traveled. The reduction in greenhouse gases are expected to be approximately 85 tons per year.
 
Electric Vehicles
We are purchasing electric vehicles for our own use and installing charging stations at our facilities to support them. We are also currently working with a range of organizations to ensure that our communities are ready for widespread adoption of these vehicles (more).
