FAQs – Internships and Co-ops at Ameren

1.

Q.

What can I expect after I submit my application?

A.

Your application will be submitted to a Selection Specialist pending your qualifications. If you meet the requirements for the position, your application will then be forwarded to the hiring manager. The team will select the top candidates for interview and will schedule interviews at the appropriate time. (As an applicant you can track this through eRecruit).

2.

Q.

When can I expect to hear from Ameren?

A.

Unfortunately at this time we are not able to personally contact all applicants regarding the status of your application. We do have a tool on our eRecruit site that will allow you to check your application status through the entire hiring process. If you do meet the qualifications and are selected for an interview, you will be contacted to schedule an interview time.

3.

Q.

Will you keep my resume on file for future openings?

A.

Your resume will be kept in our applicant tracking system for 3 years to meet Federal Contractor rules. However, you will need to apply for each position of interest as they become available. You can set up an e-mail job alert to make sure you are well aware of new openings.

4.

Q.

Will I be required to pass any kind of test?

A.

Ameren does require testing for certain positions and departments. If testing is required, we will give you advance notice to make sure you are appropriately prepared.

5.

Q.

Can I schedule an informational interview?

A.

If you are interested in a department or a particular position and would like an opportunity to learn more, please contact your career services department. We also encourage students to stop by our booth at career fairs.

6.

Q.

Are you hiring interns now?

A.

Available internships may vary depending on business line needs.

7.

Q.

Does Ameren offer paid internships?

A.

Yes. Ameren’s Internship/Co-op pay depends on the department, position, and applicant’s education/experience level.

8.

Q.

Is it possible to receive college credit?

A.

Yes. Ameren fully supports helping students receive college credit; however it will depend on the individual’s college program.

9.

Q.

What type of hours do interns work?

Hours depend on location and department.

10.

Q.

Does a college internship make it easier for me to acquire a full-time position with Ameren once I graduate?

A.

Ameren’s internship program is focused on helping students grow and develop through hands-on practice pertaining to their education on the job. As a benefit, Ameren is looking to develop future employees. An Internship/Co-op with Ameren does not guarantee a full-time position but it is a great opportunity to demonstrate your abilities and assist in retaining a full-time position.

11.

Q.

Can I apply for a position by sending a hard copy of my resume through the US Mail?

A.

Due to Federal Contractor regulations on applicant tracking, Ameren is only accepting resumes via www.ameren.com. If you are unable to access the internet, please contact Ameren’s Workforce Planning and Talent Acquisition department. Public internet access is provided at libraries, universities, and state employment offices.

12.

Q.

If I apply for more than one position, can I use a different resume for each position?

A.

Yes, eRecruit will allow you to modify your personal profile.

13.

Q.

I have work samples, and letters of recommendation that I’d like to submit with my resume, but I don’t see any way to do that. How can I get these to you?

A.

You will be able to attach them in eRecruit in the attachment section.

14.

Q.

If the job I am applying for requires that I submit my transcripts, how do I submit them?
