Email from New Jersey resident:
"I live in Allentown, N.J., and we had been without power since Monday evening. On Wednesday evening, I took my dogs out for their evening walk before it got too dark. Your power crews were up on Main Street working, and they had done a remarkable job in a few short hours of clearing and re-stringing the power lines. I managed to say 'Thank you' to let them know I appreciated the efforts. And very shortly after that, we had power. And it was wonderful." Vicki

Thank you, Vicki, for your kind words. We know it's a difficult time for those of you living in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The Ameren crews are there to work with your local utilities and to assist in safely restoring your power as quickly as possible. We are glad to help.

Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Update
Hurricane Sandy was an unprecedented storm that hit the country's most densely populated region. The power restoration work is the biggest single task the electric power industry has ever undertaken, and thousands of utility workers are risking their lives to complete the restoration process, which is extremely technical, time-consuming and dangerous.

Challenges facing utility workers in the devastated areas include:
  • Fallen trees, sand, debris and water on roads.
  • Snow on roads in West Virginia.
  • Seawater in substations, underground networks and subways.
