AmerenUE Launches Pure PowerTM Voluntary Renewable Energy Program

Oct. 1, 2007

A one-of-a-kind celebration featured the St. Louis Mayor, early adopters and a massive wind turbine blade. See photos of the event below. Read more about the special display and event in the AmerenUE Media Release.

The 131-foot, 2.1-ton blade was delivered to Ameren’s office complex as a backdrop to the kickoff of Pure Power—AmerenUE’s voluntary renewable energy program.

AmerenUE customer Amy Johnston was the first residential Pure Power customer.

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay signs the blade. As a signatory of the U.S. Conference of Mayors climate protection agreement, the City of St. Louis is working to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 7 percent below 1990 levels by 2012. Pure Power is an important part of that effort.
