Comparing “Apples” to “Apples”
Like most products, not all
photovoltaic technologies are the same. Solar technologies vary in many areas, including:
In order to accurately compare the efficiency and effectiveness of our
four rooftop systems, it is necessary to “normalize” the output of each system to a common capacity since each system has a different installed kilowatt (kW) capacity. We have chosen to normalize all the systems to the installed thin film (30.24 kW DC) capacity. This allows us to make comparisons of the four technologies as if all were installed to the same capacity.
The following table provides the calculations of a multiplier that is applied to the actual output of each system for comparison purposes.
