Not only does Callaway 1 provide clean, safe and affordable electricity, the plant also provides a boost to Missouri’s economy.

Quality Jobs
|
More than 1,000 AmerenUE employees and contractors work at the plant with a total annual payroll of approximately $100 million. During refueling outages, which occur every 18 months and take about 30 to 40 days, hundreds of additional workers are brought in for several weeks adding nearly $20 million to the payroll.
Most of AmerenUE’s full-time employees working at the Callaway Plant live in Callaway, Cole and Boone counties. However, more than 100 employees reside in 24 other Missouri counties.

Tax Revenue
|
Callaway Plant is a major source of tax revenue to fund education and other critical services. In 2007, AmerenUE paid nearly $9 million in property taxes to Callaway County. In addition, AmerenUE paid $20 million in property taxes to 66 counties in AmerenUE’s Missouri service area.

Community and Civic Support
|
Callaway Plant supports various community and civic activities, including United Way. In total, AmerenUE provides more than $4 million to charitable organizations in Missouri.
