Boosting Missouri's Economy
	Not only does Callaway 1 provide clean, safe and affordable electricity, the plant also provides a boost to Missouri’s economy.
	Quality Jobs
	More than 1,000 AmerenUE employees and contractors work at the plant with a total annual payroll of approximately $100 million. During refueling outages, which occur every 18 months and take about 30 to 40 days, hundreds of additional workers are brought in for several weeks adding nearly $20 million to the payroll. Most of AmerenUE’s full-time employees working at the Callaway Plant live in Callaway, Cole and Boone counties. However, more than 100 employees reside in 24 other Missouri counties.
	Tax Revenue
	Callaway Plant is a major source of tax revenue to fund education and other critical services. In 2007, AmerenUE paid nearly $9 million in property taxes to Callaway County. In addition, AmerenUE paid $20 million in property taxes to 66 counties in AmerenUE’s Missouri service area.
	Community and Civic Support
	Callaway Plant supports various community and civic activities, including United Way. In total, AmerenUE provides more than $4 million to charitable organizations in Missouri.
