What to Do During an Emergency
Public officials will advise Callaway Plant neighbors what to do during an emergency. Depending on where you live, you could be advised to do one of three things:
1.
Take no precautions. While no precautions are necessary, you are advised to stay tuned to the Emergency Alert System radio station (KTXY 106.9 FM) should conditions change.
2.
Shelter in place. The means you should stay indoors. Your home will shield you from a percentage of radioactive material should a release occur.

For extra protection, close windows and doors, turn off cooling and heating systems and move to your basement if you have one. Take a radio or television with you and stay tuned to the Emergency Alert System radio station (KTXY 106.9 FM) for information.
3.
Evacuate. The need to evacuate would be extremely rare. However, this possibility has been taken into consideration. The need to evacuate would be determined by the size of radioactive release and by the direction the wind is blowing. Special evacuation instructions have been established.
