Coloring and Activity Books

Fun and activities to help explain safety,
plus planting the right tree in the right place!

AmerenUE has published a coloring book for ages 5 to 7 and an activity book for ages 7 through 11 to help children not only stay safe around electricity but also understand the need to plant the right tree in the right place to avoid tree contact with power lines. The coloring book offers a charming tale of a Mama Bird trying to find a tree for her nest, with lessons on tree-planting and safety embedded. The activity book includes a nature decoder using clever symbols, a leaf detection game, a maze, even a crossword puzzle.

The goal is to give children an early understanding of the dangers of power lines and the need to pick the right tree before planting, to avoid planting under power lines, and to understand which trees work in which locations.

Use in the Classroom

These high-quality educational materials test a child’s problem-solving skills, offer a fun learning experience and increase a child’s (and the parent’s) understanding of a variety of tree species and safety and planting issues. The activities can be used to enhance lesson plans in natural science, the environment and other subjects.
