Preparing for the Test
Unlike most tests, you cannot study for the First Line Supervisor (FLS) test because it doesn't measure a body of knowledge or a skill you can practice in a short period of time. However, we recommend:

Know the basics of using a computer mouse to point and click. If you need to, get some time on a computer at home, work, a public library or at a friend's.

Seek out opportunities on your job where you can organize, plan, schedule, provide leadership, interpret and follow company policy.

Think about how a good supervisor would handle different tasks, conflicts, and situations that you've observed on the job.

Talk to someone whose supervisory skills you admire and see how they would handle these same situations.

Find resources for developing supervisory skills at your local library or on the Internet.

Get plenty of sleep prior to the test.

Don't test on an empty stomach.

Arrive 15 minutes early.

Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine prior to the test

Bring a photo ID (e.g., driver's license, military ID, state issued ID, etc.) to the test.

Dress comfortably.

If you are sick or if for some other reason you don't think you can do well, call us to see if you can reschedule.

Don't leave any questions blank; guess if you’re not sure.

It's normal to feel a little nervous (it can even help your performance) but don't let it get out of control. Breathe deeply and try to relax.
