A new program, Meet the Heat – Head On, puts the power in your hands to save the life of a friend, a neighbor, family member or to save your own life.
Throughout Missouri, there’s a new initiative aimed at heading off the deadly effects of high temperatures and humidity. Meet the Heat Partners are urging everyone to have a hot weather plan. They are encouraging Missourians to be a heat buddy by checking on elderly relatives and neighbors.
The team is reaching out to community organizations to urge everyone to watch for tell-tale signs of heat stress in themselves. They are telling vulnerable populations about turning on their air conditioners in times of extreme heat or about cooling sites where they can stay cool. The Meet the Heat team is working to let customers know where they can get help in covering their energy bills and is sending out important materials to keep the communication flowing.
