Customer Generation Overview
Customer generation - also known as distributed generation - is when generation sources installed at a customer's residence or business are interconnected to the electric grid. Generating technologies can include: photovoltaic solar panels, combustion engine/generators, microturbines, wind turbines, fuel cells and variations of these for combined heat and power.

Net metering refers to a special metering and billing arrangement between a customer and the utility that allows the customer to sell excess energy to the utility. Learn more.
