CFL Savings Tips
Here are some tips to help you get the most life out of your CFLs.
Turning a CFL on and off too many times can shorten bulb life. Use CFLs in light fixtures you leave on for 15 minutes or more.
Hold a CFL by the base when you screw it into a fixture. Holding the glass spiral to tighten a CFL can shorten bulb life or break the bulb.
When a CFL is used in an enclosed fixture, like a ceiling can light, the heat is trapped in the fixture. If the bulb’s base gets too hot, the bulb can burn out.

Choose A Light Guide
to help you select the right type of CFL for every fixture in your home.
It’s important to choose the right bulb for each type of light fixture in your home to get the longest use from CFLs. Look for the ENERGY STAR® logo when you buy bulbs, to get a safe, efficient, high-performance lighting product.
