Applicable Meters
As it relates to customer owned solar net metering applications, there are primarily two different metering situations.
Bidirectional Meter
- The bidirectional meter relates directly to net metering, which allows Ameren Missouri to record the load consumed by the customer and the amount of energy fed back to Ameren Missouri. The cost and any additional work required by the customer for the Bidirectional meter is issued in the Net Metering Application Design Approval Letter/email that is sent to the customer and installer.
Generator Meter
- The generator meter is required for solar net metering customers who install 10 kW or greater solar installations and have accepted an Ameren Missouri Standard Offer Contract to purchase the customer’s solar renewable energy certificates (SRECs). If funds are available, a Standard Offer Contract offer will be sent to the customer after the net metering application has been approved. View the Standard Offer Contract for additional information. Please note, the Annual SREC Offer cover letter sample includes details (items 5, 6 and 7) that are required to allow Ameren Missouri to select a generator meter. The cost of the meter and enclosure size will be advised to the customer/installer after the meter has been selected.
- If the customer accepts the Standard Offer Contract and did not submit the generator meter in the wiring diagram with the net metering application, they must revise and resubmit the wiring diagram. Again, please note a generator meter is only required if the customer accepts the Ameren Missouri Standard Offer Contract for SRECs. If the Standard Offer Contract is not accepted by the customer, no generator meter is required.
