Though not a silver bullet, underground electrical systems are generally protected from many of the forces of nature and other events that can affect reliability, like traffic accidents.
Between Summer 2007 and Spring 2009, Ameren Missouri installed more than 130 miles of underground line, benefiting nearly 80,000 electric customers across Missouri. That’s about $150 million worth of undergrounding projects.
