For Electric & Natural Gas Customers
Properly insulating an attic/ceiling can lower your natural gas and your electric bill by reducing the amount of heat that flows between the inside and outside of your home. The ability of insulation material to reduce heat flow is called its R-value. The greater the R-value, the more heat flow is reduced. In most of the Ameren Missouri territory, the Department of Energy recommends R-values of R38 to R60.
For more information or details on where and how much insulation should be installed, visit the
Department of Energy's website.
