For Natural Gas Customers
Optimum Excess Air Levels Improve Combustion Efficiency
An overabundance of excess air mixing with your natural gas fuel results in heat loss. Boiler efficiency can be increased by 1% for each 15% reduction in excess air. Inadequate excess air causes energy loss as carbon monoxide, soot, or smoke exit the boiler before burning completely.
You can take a number of steps to improve the efficiency of your boiler system.
- By optimizing air to gas fuel ratio, maintaining steam traps, and insulating steam lines, you can reduce heat loss and increase combustion efficiency.
- An economizer can recover waste heat and reduce fuel requirements up to 10%.
