For Electric Customers
Lighting is a critical component in every business. Employees must be able to see to perform their jobs, and objects and spaces must be pleasing to encourage sales. Depending on the type of business, lighting accounts for 20% to 50% of electric consumption. This means that significant cost savings can be achieved with energy-efficiency improvements, and due to continually improving equipment, lighting usually provides the highest return-on-investment of major upgrades.
"T" indicates that the shape of the bulb is tubular, and the last number is the diameter in eighths of an inch.
- A T-5 lamp has a diameter of 5/8" and used for commercial energy saving applications and uses an electronic ballast.
- A T-8 lamp has a diameter of 1” and used for commercial energy saving applications and uses an electronic ballast.
- Traditional T-12 lighting uses more energy and operates with a higher energy using magnetic ballast as compared to the electronic ballast found in a T-5 or T-8 light fixture.
