Craig Nelson is senior vice president, Regulatory Affairs and Financial Services for Ameren Illinois. In this role, he directs power procurement, financial analysis/reporting, regulatory and rates, and external affairs for Ameren Illinois.
Nelson began his career as a tax consultant with Arthur Andersen & Company, an accounting and management consulting firm. He joined Central Illinois Public Service Company (CIPS) in 1979 as a tax accountant. He assumed positions of increasing responsibility, including serving as treasurer of CIPS and vice president of Corporate Planning for Ameren Corporation.
Nelson serves on the Illinois Energy Association Strategic Issues Group and the Edison Electric Institute Strategic Planning Committee. He served on the Board of Trustees of the St. Louis Science Center until his transfer to Peoria. Nelson now serves on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross - Central Illinois Chapter.
Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1977, graduating with highest honors, and a Master in Business Administration in 1984. Both degrees were awarded by Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, in Illinois. He is a certified public accountant.
