Budget Billing is a free billing option that helps level out your payments throughout the year.
How it works
Budget Billing is based on your total energy usage during the previous year. This amount is divided into 12 equal amounts, which in turn becomes your baseline monthly payment.
When a payment amount changes
A review is performed on the fourth and eighth month after your enrollment in Budget Billing to help keep your payments levelized throughout the year. This helps keep the amount due (or credited) at the end of the year to a minimum.
During a review, we recalculate your payment based on actual usage. If the new amount is higher by $3 or more, the new amount becomes your new Budget Billing payment.
Settlement
Allows you to "settle up" the difference between the cost of the energy you used during the previous 11 months and the amount you paid on budget billing. "Settle up" happens once every 12 months.
Rollover
Continuously "rolls over" the difference between the cost of energy used and amount you paid on budget billing.
Easy billing option with roommates
Sometimes dividing up monthly expenses between roommates can be challenging - and no one wants the surprise of a higher utility bill. Use the Budget Billing option, and you and your roommates can pay the same amount every month!
