Over the course of our 10-year Modernization Action Plan (MAP), Ameren Illinois will create hundreds of much-needed jobs - providing residents with new career opportunities in central and southern Illinois.
Positions from engineers to linemen and more will be needed to carry out the thousands of planned infrastructure projects. Hiring will ramp-up during the peak of the program in 2015, when more than 450 positions need to be filled.

Investing in our State
As part of MAP, Ameren Illinois also will build a state-of-the-art training center in Belleville, Ill., and update our Decatur, Ill., training facility to prepare our workforce for the future. And with thousands of infrastructure projects planned over the next 10 years, MAP will help ensure our state has the modern grid necessary to support businesses and grow our economy.
Creating Jobs
Ameren Illinois has created an additional 82 full-time equivalent jobs for employees and contractors during the first quarter of 2013 in support of the Modernization Action Plan.
The direct new jobs created and the planned investments in building a smarter grid also help to create indirect jobs - those jobs created from the indirect effects of industry-to-industry transactions and the induced income impacts resulting from expenditures by individuals working on MAP projects as they spend wages and salaries on consumer goods and services.
The
Energy Infrastructure Modernization Act, MAP, passed the Illinois Legislature with strong support from labor unions, business groups and environmental organizations.
