Ameren's fuel procurement professionals procure coal, oil, petroleum ("pet") coke, and alternative fuels to provide customized solutions for your energy needs.
Purchasing roughly 40 million tons of coal per year, Ameren is in constant contact with major producers, transportation companies, utilities, and end users of coal. In addition, Ameren trades several million tons of coal annually, allowing its fuel services professionals to monitor immediate changes in the fuel markets.
Alternative fuels, such as tire chips, activated carbon and other materials, are evaluated and used whenever possible to help the environment and to provide low-cost fuel supplements at coal-fired plants.
