Ameren Missouri recently installed a new distribution amplification (DA) device, called an Intellirupter, on a power line in Gordonville. The 1,100-pound smart switch can restore power more quickly for customers if an outage occurs. This new technology can more rapidly detect and isolate damage, rerouting power where possible – reducing outages and speeding power restoration for customers sometimes from hours to seconds. The smart technology upgrades are delivering up to a 40% improvement in reliability on circuits that use smart equipment switches.
