We understand the critical role electric and gas utility services play in your daily life, and we are committed to helping you get through these difficult and unpredictable times. You will continue to see us in the community responding to service calls, working on critical infrastructure projects and maintaining our facilities. We are practicing preventative safety measures as advised by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state and local authorities.

We also recognize that many of you may face financial hardships during these extraordinary times, and we want to help.

At Ameren, we never compromise on safety – yours or ours. When you see us working in your home, business, yard or community, you'll see us practicing social distancing and taking other precautionary measures. You can help by maintaining a distance of six feet or more from our work areas.

If you have an appointment, we can conduct the entire appointment and perform safety checks outside at your meter. But some services may require us to come inside. If we need to do that, we will avoid close contact with those inside and take other safety measures. If anyone is sick, shows symptoms of or has tested positive for COVID-19, we ask that you reschedule your appointment or, in the case of a gas leak or other immediate need, let us know so we can take precautionary measures.

If you ever smell natural gas (a rotten egg-like smell), leave and call us from a safe location. On your way out, do not use or touch any light switches, cell phones, telephones, appliances, garage door openers or any device that could generate a spark or a flame.

Illinois Customers 

Update: We resumed assessing late fees on July 27, 2020.
Business: Disconnection for nonpayment will resume August 11, 2020.
Residential: Ameren Illinois will maintain the moratorium on service disconnections for customers with adverse health conditions (including a household member recovering from COVID-19), customers who are eligible for assistance from the state's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), or those who are experiencing hardship caused by COVID-19.

Missouri Customers 

Update: Starting on October 21, 2020, the Ameren Missouri COVID-19 Clean Slate program now includes an additional $500,000 to help our residential electric customers with past due balances pay off their utility bills. Learn More
