How We're Growing
Approach to Net Zero Carbon Emissions

Ameren remains committed to its ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2045 while providing reliable and affordable energy to the customers and communities it serves. Reliability and affordability are the highest priorities and will continue to guide resource decisions as the company navigates unprecedented growth in electricity demand, evolving market conditions and changing policy dynamics. Given this environment, Ameren will no longer maintain interim emissions-reduction goals, though it expects the carbon intensity of our generation portfolio to improve over time. 

Realizing the 2045 net-zero ambition will require continued advancements in cost-effective low- and zero-carbon technologies, carbon capture solutions, supportive regulatory and policy frameworks, and growing customer demand for energy. We will continue working with policymakers, customers, industry groups, and other stakeholders to advance practical, affordable, and reliable pathways to a lower-carbon energy future.
