All Eyes on Safety

Every day, more than 2,000 people injure their eyes at work, according to Prevent Blindness America (PBA). Of these work-related injuries, 10-20% will cause temporary or permanent vision loss. But using eye protection such as goggles, prescription and non-prescription safety glasses, face shields, and full-face respirators can prevent 90% of eye injuries, says PBA.

The type of eye protection you wear depends on the hazards present. Using the wrong type or using the correct type improperly can leave you unprotected. Be sure to remember to work with your employer so that you can make sure you have the appropriate eye protection for all of the hazards you may encounter.
