The Project will provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy to our customers. Through this Project, Ameren Missouri customers will have improved system reliability and support for continued area growth.

Ameren Missouri is rebuilding approximately 10 miles of 138,000-volt transmission line in St. Louis County and in the City of St. Louis. The line will be rebuilt on existing right-of-way and will connect the Watson Substation to the Lemay Substation, and cross the Mississippi River to a final destination in Dupo, Illinois. The rebuilt line will improve grid reliability, meet local energy need, and promote cleaner energy sources. The project is proposed to be in service by Winter 2022.

Construction is scheduled to begin Fall 2020.

Transmission lines are similar to the interstate highway system in the way they will allow energy from generators to travel short or long distances, as needed, at any given moment.

In general, following construction the land can continue to be used as before, provided that the use does not interfere with the construction, operation, and maintenance of the transmission line. Some examples of allowable uses include gardens and trees less than 15 feet tall. We encourage landowners to contact an Ameren land agent to discuss activities permitted in the ROW.

The term right-of-way or ROW is typically a strip of land used for a specific purpose such as the construction, operation, and maintenance of a roadway or transmission line.

The line will be rebuilt on existing right-of-way in St. Louis County and in the City of St. Louis. We will be discussing right-of-way with residents and businesses prior to construction. There may be instances where personal property will need to be removed from the right-of-way area prior to construction. A land agent will work through this process with property owners adjacent to the line.

Our project team is committed to helping businesses and residents before, during, and after construction. We’ll continue to listen to your needs and concerns. While we always do our best to minimize impacts during construction, some temporary impacts that may occur:

• Noise, dust, and lights for nearby residents
• Equipment, materials, and construction crews located along the road and in the existing right-of-way
• Crews will be working during daylight hours with potential for some work to be completed after dusk
• Temporary, intermittent lane and road closures
• Residents will need to remove personal property located in the right-of-way area

Construction is scheduled to begin February 2021.

Access to homes and businesses will remain open at all times during construction. There may be times when the contractor needs to temporarily close an intersection or driveway access. If this happens, Ameren Missouri will coordinate access with residents and businesses in advance of these closures and crews will have posted detours to direct traffic.
