WEG Transformers USA announces expansion of operations in Washington, Missouri
WEG Transformers USA to invest $77 million and create 50 new jobs
WEG Transformers USA, a leading producer of transformers, announces it will expand its operations in Washington, Missouri, investing $77 million and creating 50 new jobs. The company's expansion will provide additional capacity to support its customers' growing energy needs.
Specifically, the company's investment will target the production of transformers with power ratings from 1 to 10 MVA and voltage up to 46.5 kV, which plays a critical role in supporting the expansion of industrial manufacturing, data centers and grid stability throughout the country. The expansion project aims to increase vertical integration, implementing automated and robotic processes, as well as a 50% increase in capacity.
"This investment reinforces our commitment to the United States market and our ongoing pursuit of operational excellence," said Carlos Diether Prinz, managing director of Transmission and Distribution at WEG. "By expanding capacity and automating processes, we will be able to respond more quickly and with greater quality to evolving demands of key sectors, such as data centers, grid stability and energy storage."
Currently, WEG Transformers USA operates three manufacturing sites in Washington: distribution, power and specialty transformers. Together, these facilities employ 560 people throughout the area.

Since the start of Ameren Missouri's Smart Energy Plan, the company has worked with more than 1,200 Missouri-based suppliers to modernize the state's electric grid. As one of those Missouri-based suppliers, WEG has played a critical role in Ameren Missouri's ability to reliably serve its customers – supplying transformers for substations throughout the company's service territory.
