Enroll Your Qualified Electric Vehicle
Let your qualifying electric vehicle do all the work, while you stay in control of your comfort! Plus, you'll earn $50 for enrolling and a $100 annual appreciation bonus each year you participate. See the FAQs to learn more about eligibility and participation in events.
To participate in the program, you must be an Ameren Missouri electric service customer and have a qualifying electric vehicle connected to Optiwatt that you charge at your home. To see if you have a qualifying EV, check for your model in the "Controllable Models" column and ensure your model has a check mark in all three columns.
How it Works
Enroll Your Electric Vehicle
Connect your EV to the Optiwatt mobile app or on your internet browser. Choose your electric vehicle manufacturer, then follow the prompts to enroll.
Receive Your Enrollment Bonus
You will receive a $50 enrollment bonus within four weeks of signing up and $100 every year you participate.
Participate in Peak Time Savings Events
When energy demand is at its peak, we'll notify you of events. Your electric vehicle will make temporary adjustments to ease energy demand. See FAQs for more details.
Smart Thermostats
Ameren partners with smart thermostat manufacturers to ease the strain on the energy grid during times of highest demand.

General Questions
- Customers must have Ameren Missouri residential electric service to participate.
- Any electric vehicle(s) participating in the program must be charged within the home.
- Certain Off-Peak/On-Peak Rate (Overnight Savers, Smart Savers, and Ultimate Savers) customers are not eligible.
- Net metering customers are not eligible.
- Customer's account must not be in the Medical Equipment Registry.

A welcome email will share details for how to connect your EV through the Optiwatt app.
Yes! As long as your vehicle is a qualified model (check for your model in the "Controllable Models" column and ensure your model has a check mark in all three columns). All you need to do is register with Optiwatt and connect your vehicle. Once that is complete, enroll in Peak Time Savings by following the prompts on your device.
You’ll earn bonuses and make a difference in reducing demand on the grid, and the best part is, your EV does all the work! You'll receive a $50 enrollment bonus when you sign up, and a $100 annual appreciation bonus each year you actively participate in the program.
You will receive your sign-up bonus check within four weeks. In addition, for continued participation in the Peak Time Savings Program, the annual incentive will be paid in the second year of participation by December. If you meet requirements, reference these in the Terms and Conditions (PDF). Reminder to be eligible for the anniversary bonus you must participate in at least one event and opt out of no more than two events per year.

Peak Time Savings Events
The hottest and coldest days create heavy demand on the energy grid. On these days of increased need, the energy system may become strained, and getting energy to everyone who needs it can become inefficient and expensive. The Peak Time Savings Program empowers our customers to voluntarily assist with keeping energy service reliable and affordable for the whole community by reducing energy use when demand is highest.
Events can occur at any time of year but typically occur in the hotter summer and colder winter months. Summer events can be called May through September. Winter events can be called October through April.
Typically, events are called in the early morning or late afternoon. Peak Time Savings Program events can last up to four hours.
Events will not occur on weekends or holidays, except in the event of a system emergency. Additionally, you may choose to opt out of an event if it impacts your plans.
The program will send an email to let you know that an event is planned, usually the day before the event is scheduled, except during emergency events. The program will also send an email letting you know when an event is beginning and ending. During an event, you'll see a notification in the Optiwatt mobile app.
Yes. Your EV charging will likely be paused during the event to help reduce grid load. We will not pause your charge if doing so would prevent your EV from being fully charged by your Ready By time. If you resume charging or opt-out of too many events, you may forfeit future annual appreciation bonuses and may be removed from the program. Ameren Missouri reserves the right to remove participants from the Peak Time Savings Program or limit eligibility for annual bonuses for participants who opt out of three or more events per year.
If you unenroll from the program with your current EV, you may not re-enter the program with the same EV at the same Ameren Missouri account. If you unenroll from the program due to a residential move, you may bring the existing EV and enroll at the new location. If you unenroll your current EV at your current location, you may enroll a new EV at the current location.
