The Power of Choice and Reliable Energy Delivery

Illinois’ deregulated electricity market gives businesses the flexibility to choose their energy supplier, manage costs and build energy portfolios that support both operational and sustainability goals. That flexibility is supported by reliable energy delivery, backed by long‑term investments designed to strengthen performance today and prepare for future needs.

Ameren Illinois’ Integrated Grid Plan prioritizes grid modernization, infrastructure replacement, automation, and preventative maintenance, directing more than half of planned investments to equity‑eligible communities.

What this means for site selectors and growing businesses:

  • Choice of energy suppliers for competitive pricing and flexible procurement strategies
  • A modernized, resilient grid supported by multi‑year capital investments
  • Improved reliability through automation and upgrades to aging infrastructure
  • Continued progress toward cleaner energy sources
  • Demand charges among the lowest in the Midwest, helping keep delivery costs low

Supporting State Goals of Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050

Illinois’ clean energy strategy is anchored by the 2021 Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), which set the state on a path to 100% clean energy by 2050, and the follow-up 2026 Climate and Reliable Grid Act (CRGA), which focuses on reliability, energy storage and cost stability.

Ameren Illinois supports these goals through targeted investments and customer‑focused solutions that balance sustainability with dependable, affordable power for businesses.

Faster Decisions and Less Risk With Shovel Ready Sites

The Ameren Site Acceleration Program (ASAP) is a proactive initiative focused on advancing development‑ready industrial and commercial sites in economically disadvantaged communities across downstate Illinois. For select sites within Ameren Illinois’ service territory, the program funds and completes critical pre‑development work, including due diligence studies, conceptual site plans, utility and infrastructure capacity analysis and targeted industry matching.

Other sites are also available now to support a wide range of business and development opportunities. These buildings and sites are prescreened to meet operational standards and help site selection consultants and developers choose a strategic Midwest location with easy-to-develop land and access to major markets, roads, rail, air and river systems.
