Hosting Capacity Map
The Ameren Illinois Company (AIC) hosting capacity maps display a high-level visualization of the available hosting capacity for interconnecting distributed energy resources (DER) to an AIC electrical system.

The Hosting Capacity Map is not available for Missouri customers.
Available Resources

Hosting capacity is defined as the approximate amount of generation that can be accommodated at a given point in time on the system without impacting reliability, requiring specialized inverter settings, or without requiring system modifications. The capacity values are meant to provide the user with a general idea of capacity at a location, however it is not guaranteed and/or may change at any time. All applications for interconnection will still require a full engineering review subject to Illinois Administrative Code guidelines and may require additional system modifications that could increase interconnection costs.

Generation Hosting Capacity Map

Best for: Solar, Wind, Energy Storage (Discharging) Developers
Use this map if you are planning a project that will export energy onto the grid, such as solar installation, wind facility, or battery storage system operating in discharge mode. This map displays the approximate amount of generation capacity available at locations across the Ameren Illinois service territory.

Load Hosting Capacity Map

Best for: EV Charging, Economic Development, and Energy Storage (Charging) Developers
Use this map if you are planning a project that will consume energy from the grid, such as an electric vehicle (EV) charging station, a new commercial or industrial load, or a battery storage system operating in charging mode. This map illustrates available load capacity across the Ameren Illinois service territory, including along major travel corridors for EV charging siting.

Developing a Standalone Energy Storage System (ESS)? Battery storage projects both charge and discharge, meaning they interact with the grid as both a load and a generation source. Developers of energy storage systems should consult both maps when evaluating potential sites. Switching between maps is seamless within the map viewer.

Distribution

The distribution hosting capacity map provides results for system voltages of 15 kV and lower.

Subtransmission

The subtransmission hosting capacity map provides results for system voltages at 34.5 kV and 69 kV represented as areas.
