Thin Film
The thin-film panels supplied for this project are not functioning as designed. Abound Solar is aware of the issue and is working with Ameren to replace the modules in early 2012. Thank you for your patience as we remedy the situation.

Thin film technology is often used for utility scale installations where space for solar equipment is not an issue.

Thin film technology is typically less expensive than the crystalline types, but it is considered less efficient.
Ameren's Thin Film
With a total of 30.24 kW DC, 432 Abound modules, rated at 70 watts/module and covering an area of about 5,475 sq. ft., are installed and produce energy on Ameren's west building.
For the Ameren project, thin film panels were the least expensive component; however, they were the most expensive to install.
