Mary Heger is senior vice president of Customer Experience for Ameren Illinois Company.

Heger leads Ameren Illinois' Customer Strategy, driving top-tier customer satisfaction through superior technology, engagement, and service. She has oversight for call center operations, billing, credit & collections, marketing/branding, research/analytics, and public relations, serving as the chief customer advocate and working closely with regulatory team to advance pro-customer policies. Heger leverages her extensive background in Digital Technology and Business Strategy to improve the customer experience and expand customer adoption of energy and cost-saving programs and services. As a member of the Ameren Executive Leadership Team, she leads initiatives to improve overall business performance and shareholder return.

Heger began her career in 1976 at Union Electric Company (now known as Ameren Missouri) and moved into information technology as a programmer in 1981. In 1992, she was promoted to assistant treasurer and director of investor services. After serving in various management positions, she was promoted to senior director of development for information technology in 2004. In 2009, she was promoted to vice president of information technology, in 2012 to chief information officer, and in 2015 to senior vice president and chief information officer. In 2019, she was selected to lead customer operations for Ameren Illinois.

Heger is currently on the board of trustees for the Missouri Historical Society and is past chair of the board at International Institute of St. Louis. She also is a graduate of Leadership St. Louis, a highly respected leadership development program.

In August 2013, Heger was named one of St. Louis' Most Influential Business Women by the St. Louis Business Journal. Other awards include a YWCA 2010 Leader of Distinction award, the 2014 Dean’s Award in the John E. Simon School of Business at Maryville University, and the St. Louis Business Journal's 2017 Technology Leader award. She has served on the Ameren's Diversity Council and as co-chair of the corporate United Way Employee Campaign.

Heger holds a Bachelor of Arts in management from Maryville University in St. Louis and earned a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
