To make an impact in our communities, serve the underserved, and create a thriving region, Ameren awards grants and sponsorships to nonprofits that are working to address three core areas: meeting critical needs, helping communities thrive, and creating education and economic opportunities in our region. To be eligible for an Ameren grant, your organization must be working in the Ameren Missouri or Ameren Illinois service areas. You also must have proof of your 501(c)(3) status. Individuals, political organizations and candidates, and religious or similar groups generally do not qualify for Ameren grants.
Our grant process differs slightly based on whether your organization is served by Ameren Missouri or Ameren Illinois. Please review these distinctions below and click the button to start the application process.
Illinois Applicants
Ameren Illinois receives contribution and sponsorship requests from mid-January through November 30th. Contribution requests are received and processed through our online application platform.
Sponsorship requests for events can be emailed to communityrelationsIL@ameren.com. Most sponsorships range from $500 to $5000 in support.
Missouri Applicants
Philanthropic grants are awarded on a cycle. Requests for grants greater than $10,000 will be collected twice yearly.
Ameren awards philanthropic donations for gala and event sponsorships from mid-January through Nov. 30. Most sponsorships range from $1,200 to $10,000 in support.

- Cover letter that includes the amount requested
- A valid W-9 form
- Other information that may be required includes:
- IRS Form 990 for most recent fiscal year
- Detailed budget for project, including income and expenses
- List of board members and executive officers, including titles and affiliations
- Most recent annual report or other literature summarizing programs
- If you are submitting for event or gala sponsorship, you must apply at least 45 days before the event. The review team will do its best to reply to sponsorship requests within 30 days of when they enter the AmerenCares online application system.
- Submissions for grants greater than $10,000 will only be reviewed on a twice-yearly basis. The first cycle for these grants will open in February and announcements will be made in July. The second application cycle will open in July, with announcements made in December.
- Requests for grants $10,000 and less will be reviewed on an on-going basis, and it typically takes 6-8 weeks for applicants to be notified.
