Community Engagement

Ameren’s mission is to power the quality of life for our customers, our co-workers and our communities. That’s why we’ve long supported and worked side-by-side with a variety of groups that make our communities better.

One of our primary community engagement programs is the AmerenCares Corporate Contribution program. We connect Ameren co-workers with their local communities through volunteerism and fundraising campaigns. We also support nonprofits across a spectrum of sectors, including health and human services, education, environment, and community and economic development. Through all of Ameren's philanthropic investments, our primary goal is to empower people, progress, and prosperity in the communities we serve.

Ameren also has established a formal method for community engagement that allows two-way communication between Ameren and community leaders. “Community Voices” is an annual engagement established in 2019. The program brings together a variety of community stakeholders to discuss education, job development and energy cost savings. These discussions helped us better understand how we can partner to meet needs in our communities.

Improving Quality of Life in Our Region

Now more than ever, our communities need us to do more than provide power. As one of the largest companies in the region, Ameren is committed to impactful giving that empowers people, progress and prosperity in the communities we serve.

Recently, Ameren evolved its corporate giving strategy to focus on three core areas to help our communities thrive: meeting people’s basic needs; improving access to education; and creating a better local economy. These are the areas of highest need in our communities – and they will best propel transformative change for the region.

In addition to philanthropic giving, Ameren supports our communities through employee volunteerism, STEM education initiatives, and energy assistance for customers in need. We also engage community members and leaders in a variety of ways, including the annual Community Voices program. This event brings together community stakeholders to discuss education, job development, and energy cost savings. These discussions help Ameren better understand how we can work together to make our communities better.

Making Space for Play

Just in time for the beginning of summer, the Ameren Charitable Trust supported a new addition to historic Forest Park in St. Louis, the Anne O’C. Albrecht Nature Playscape. This long-awaited addition to Forest Park has transformed 17 acres of turf grass into a one-of-a-kind experiential play space with natural landscapes that include native and diverse species. The project was funded by several donors, including the Ameren Charitable Trust, and completed in partnership with the nonprofit conservancy Forest Park Forever and the City of St. Louis.
