Clean Slate Electric and Gas Program

Ameren Missouri created the Clean Slate Program to help eligible customers clear their past-due balances and start fresh. We recognize there are families struggling and in need of assistance who don't qualify for many of the existing federal and state assistance programs. The Clean Slate program helps fill that gap, and now the program has expanded. Eligible gas customers can now receive assistance through Clean Slate. We encourage eligible customers to apply today while funds are still available!

To be eligible for Clean Slate, customers must meet the following requirements:

  • Have an active Ameren Missouri electric or gas account that is past due, including those on payment agreements, or reconnecting an account
  • Pay 10% of the past-due balance
  • Experiencing financial hardship
  • Household income up to 300% of the federal poverty level
    • Income eligibility determined by the agency — not Ameren Missouri
    • Example: Households making up to $79,500 for a family of four are eligible to apply
    • Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines

Find Your Agency to Apply

Once you've identified your agency from the list below, contact them and ask about the Clean Slate Program
You should also check with your agency to see if you're eligible for Keeping Current, LIHEAP and Weatherization. Clean Slate participants are often eligible for more than one assistance program.
