Millcreek Energy Center
Ameren Missouri is proposing a battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Lincoln County, Missouri, to help meet growing demand and support reliable electric service. The Millcreek Energy Center has the potential to include a solar project, which is still under evaluation. Both projects are subject to regulatory review and will include community engagement before construction begins.
About the Millcreek Energy Center Battery Storage Project

Ameren Missouri filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) in May 2026 seeking approval to construct a BESS facility at the Millcreek site.

Battery storage facilities store electricity and deliver it back to the grid when it is needed most, including during extreme weather. These systems respond almost instantaneously and help support reliable service when conditions change. As part of a broad mix of generation and storage resources, batteries are one of the ways we are working to deliver the energy our customers need while keeping bills as low as possible.

With timely regulatory approval, the project will be ready to serve customers in 2028.

Potential Solar Project
Ameren Missouri is evaluating a potential solar project at the Millcreek site. The solar project is in the early stages of development, and site studies are underway. Details about the project’s size and layout will be shared as they come into focus. While the exact timeline is still being determined, if the project moves forward, Ameren Missouri aims to begin producing energy for the community before 2030.
