As the energy provider for the communities we serve, we believe providing diverse-owned businesses an opportunity to compete in the performance of goods and services for Ameren is a critical component of our company’s business strategy. We accomplish this by identifying qualified diverse-owned business enterprises that add value to our strategic sourcing and business segment relationships and the company’s growth.
Our strategy to promote qualified diverse-owned business participation includes such activities as corporate-wide and business segment supplier diversity goals, performance metrics and active participation in diverse supplier organizations.
In addition, we are proud to open our doors to the diverse business community with our bi-annual Ameren Supplier Diversity Symposium. This symposium is an ideal environment for raising awareness of our procurement projects among members of the diverse business community. This event also helps us identify many diverse suppliers who can provide the goods and services Ameren needs.
Finally, as a result of our commitment we are funding scholarships to allow diverse suppliers to attend the Minority Executive Program at the Tuck School of Business on the Dartmouth College Campus in Hanover, N.H. Since 1980, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth has helped minority business executives succeed and now boast 7,000 graduates of its high impact programs.
Supporting our diverse business community helps to strengthen and enhance our commitment to become the best utility company in the United States in the eyes of our customers, shareholders, communities and employees. Our Supplier Diversity partnership underscores the vital role diverse suppliers play in the economic success of our region.
