Ameren drives a culture of inclusion and powers the quality of life by eliminating barriers to people achieving excellence – both within our company and in our communities. Our core values include respecting others and having the integrity to do the right thing. But stating values is one thing. At Ameren, we believe we must have the courage to live those values, so we have intensified our diversity, equity and inclusion work to help enact positive change.
A culture that values diversity and fosters equity and inclusion is critical to long-term sustainable success. Through diverse experiences and ways of thinking, we can solve problems more creatively, work together more collaboratively, and better serve our diverse customers and communities.
We’re proud to have built award-winning diversity programs, and DE&I efforts that our co-workers consistently rank highly in over a decade of annual engagement surveys.
Multi-generational workforce:
As an essential service provider, leading employer, and contributor to the economic growth in our region, we recognize that our words and actions have a profound impact on the communities we serve. We continue to demonstrate and affirm our commitment to our core value of DE&I by equipping our customers, communities and co-workers with tools that encourage them to live their values every day. These are important steps forward in fulfilling Ameren’s commitment to our “All In” culture: We Care, We Serve with Passion, We Deliver, We Win Together.
Ameren is committed to building a more diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. In 2021, Ameren engaged in several best-in-class initiatives, including building a diverse workforce for the future. We will continue to take intentional steps to recruit, hire and retain diverse candidates.
Ameren is committed to developing our co-workers. 2021 was about continuing new initiatives that built on 2020 work and the momentum of elevating DE&I to a corporate value. We successfully launched ConvERGing: Learning and Action, which connects co-workers with community partners, enabling them to broaden their thinking and engagement through DE&I focused learning opportunities.
Ameren is committed to serving the diverse needs of our communities and expanding economic opportunities. Last year, we engaged in numerous new and continuing partnerships with educational institutions and professional organizations that support minorities, the underprivileged and the underserved. We made meaningful investments in diverse-owned businesses, increased opportunities for diverse suppliers, and achieved our highest diverse spend to date. We donated millions in philanthropy and in-kind contributions to organizations that serve critical human needs, build strong communities, and focus on economic opportunity. For a about Ameren's diversity programs, see our 2021 DE&I Report.
Part of leading the way to a sustainable energy future is building a diverse workforce pipeline and fostering an interest in STEM and technical fields among prospective co-workers. These include:
