UMSL Accelerate is a one-of-a-kind Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Accelerator made up of entrepreneurs from marginalized communities which aims to boost early stage, scalable for-profit startups and companies that directly and positively impact underserved communities. The eight-week program is run by the University of Missouri St. Louis.
“Seven years ago, I made a conscious commitment to love myself more by nourishing my mind, my body, and my skin," said LaCrassia Wilderness, a 2022 UMSL Accelerate Finalist. "Through my journey and experience, Butter Love was born. I have been able to help thousands of people feel good about their skin.”

We've teamed up with Southeast Missouri State University to install new solar arrays on its main campus in Cape Girardeau. Construction began Oct. 25 and will work around Show Me Center events to minimize disruption. The solar panels are expected to be in service in July 2022.
Together, the 3,500 solar modules will provide 1.2 megawatts of energy, which is enough to power more than 130 homes for a year.
“We are excited to work with Ameren Missouri to bring more renewable energy to southeast Missouri and provide educational opportunities to our students and community about this important topic,” said Southeast President Dr. Carlos Vargas. “This solar installation is a great addition to our campus sustainability efforts and demonstrates the commitment of the University and our entire Redhawk community has to a greener, cleaner future.”
In Central Missouri, young people are paving the way to a brighter future. In 2020, we partnered with renowned Historically Black College Lincoln University to grant $200,000 in scholarship funds to help students pursue their dreams.
“Ameren Missouri is a valuable community partner, and we are grateful for their continued support”, said André Grinston, Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations. “Ameren has assisted scholarship students with job readiness programs, internships and mentoring. Their partnership supports students facing great economic challenges at our university and prepares them for the workforce.”
"As Chief Sustainability and Diversity Officer, I will continue to ensure Ameren's environmental stewardship, positive social impact, robust corporate governance and ongoing sustainable growth initiatives are integrated in the company's strategy to realize our vision – Leading the way to a sustainable energy future."
